General Responsibilities of Officers and Board Members
Board Members are required to attend at least one Board Meeting each year to remain on the Board of Directors of the MD/DC/NOVA AATG. Ideally, each Board Member will assist in at least one event / activity or work on a committee each year.
President
· Convenes and conducts at least two Board Meetings each year
· Convenes and conducts Executive Board Meetings (Officers & Chairs) as needed
· Stays in touch with various members of the Board to support activities
· Corresponds with the National Office as required (Annual Report, Chapter Presidents’ Meeting, etc.)
· Works together with other organizations to promote AATG Chapter activities, build rapport and to support their events
Vice-President
· Takes over the responsibilities of the President when he/she is unable to do so
· Assists the President in carrying out his/her duties
Secretary
· Records Minutes of both Executive and Full Board Meetings and distributes them as required.
· Summarizes the results of events for possible publication in area / professional media outlets
· Assists in the writing of the Annual Report
· Assists in writing correspondence (thank you letters, solicitations for funding, etc.)
Treasury
· Tracks incoming & outgoing funds
· Reports to Board on Treasury and creates written summaries of accounts
· Disburses funds as approved
Testing Chair
· Organizes and administers yearly AATG National testing of high school students of German
· Organizes and hosts with the support of the President and others the yearly Awards Ceremony for high school students of German
Membership Chair
· Keeps current list of all members of the Chapter
· Tracks dues from year to year of members
· Solicits & recruits lapsed / new members
· Carries out initiatives for recruitment in consultation with the Board
Newsletter Editor / Webmaster
· Assembles and distributes at least two newsletters a year
· Maintains and makes improvements/changes to the local chapter’s website
